Structuring water for plants

MIM-2 is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat or alleviate any disease. If you have health problems, always consult a doctor. This article is educational in character and does not constitute medical advice.

Two pots of basil on the same windowsill, the same soil, the same watering can. One difference: the pot on the left gets water that stood for an hour next to a switched-on MIM-2. That is the whole experiment, and anyone can repeat it in their own kitchen.

We call the process magnetostructuring and we write about it the way you write about a hobby, without a shred of a promise. Below you will find how we do it, how to set up your own trial, and what it will not tell you.

What magnetostructuring means

Magnetostructuring is our own name for a process in which a vessel of water is placed for about an hour near a working MIM-2 — we treat it as part of a home ritual and we do not ascribe any strict physical definition to it.

In practice it looks utterly ordinary. A glass, a jug or a bottle, the device standing beside it, one hour. Then you water the plants.

Two pots, one variable

If you want to check this at home, take care of one thing: everything apart from the water has to be the same. The same variety, soil from a single bag, the same windowsill, the same amount of water, the same watering day. Label the pots with masking tape, because after two weeks you will not remember which one is which.

Take a photo once a week, always from the same spot. Photographs remember better than we do. Six or eight weeks is quite enough to see whether there is anything here worth discussing.

What owners tell us

Some people who have had a MIM-2 for years mention that they also water their geraniums or a peace lily with it, and that the leaves look different to them. Others see nothing at all. These are reports from windowsills, not measurements, and that is exactly how we treat them.

What you will not find here

We explain none of it with a mechanism. We don’t build any theory around it, because we have no basis for such claims and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We promise your plants nothing either.

A kitchen trial has an obvious weakness on top of that: you know which pot is which, so you look at them differently. You can work around it a little by asking someone in the household to do the watering and to judge the result at the end, without reading your notes.

Plants grow slowly and that is the best part of it. You get eight weeks of quiet looking, while MIM-2 stays what it is in this story: a wellness device that treats nothing and diagnoses nothing, neither in people nor in basil.
